Well, you are landing here in less than a month's time and you will be assaulted by the recent trend in cine-marketing. For "I hate luv stories" Imran Khan and Sonam had a weekly slot on cnn-ibn for a love-guru/cutsie luv stories kind of a show ( I get the details wrong). I do believe this is a need to tap into the first weekend ticket sales at multiplexes and of course the NRI audience. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I guess it makes business sense. Digressing, Mani made Dil Se in 1998; wonder when he is going to make his next movie.
On another note, it just struck me as curious that many of us seem obliged to comment on the quality of writing in the blog, rather than comment on the topic of discussion itself. I mean, if you present a view like this to me in person, I am hardly going to preface my discussion with "nicely presented, interesting point dude..now moving on to the issue itself..." :) whereas here, my first thought after I hit submit for the previous comment was "shit, I forgot to tell him how good/bad the blog was"
I had a late realization that I still like to call my city Madras.
Bharath, I don't have an issue with the marketing. It's bastardizing the movie to help sell it that actually leaves a bad taste.
As to your second comment, I guess thats what makes writing different, doesn't it. It is as much about the idea as to how it is presented. Also, I think you picked a wrong analogy by comparing writing to a conversation/discussion. Writing is similar to giving a speech on this topic. If I were to do that, you might still tell me how well I spoke, won't you?

This one is about the "about me" - wasnt there a "Singara Chennai" in there somewhere once?

Ashwin,
I had a late realization that I still like to call my city Madras.
